The difference starts here, and it begins with you.
Volunteers are the backbone of OCCDA, running Mosaic and Overflow Coffee Cafe, sorting books and merchandising, tutoring, teaching, hugging babies, developing the arts, outreach, administrative support in our offices, painting and building, organizing events and fundraisers and just plain out there having fun and loving people. Volunteers also sustain some of the social enterprises that were developed to support the work of OCCDA, which are businesses designed to create job skill programs, employment and provide critical resources for the community.
There are many ways to get involved, and your opportunities include:
MOSAIC RESALE & RESOURCE CENTER
Mosaic's programs, store prep and operations are 90% run by volunteers.Consider lending your time, talent and dedication to sorting, organizing, merchandising and recycling at Mosaic. Through Mosaic, OCCDA is developing leadership, employment and job skill training, literacy programs, and preschool creativity. I want to help >>
HARBOR SHINE
Harbor Shine invests in youth training through its 12-week summer youth program. Volunteers support, mentor and encourage community teens in the summer job program, and are utilized throughout the year in maintaining equipment. I want to help >>
OVERFLOW COFFEE CAFE
The coffee cafe is a fun opportunity to learn skills and meet new people. Become a barista and serve the public cappucinos, lattes, smoothies at the Overflow Coffee Cafe in the Orchards Mall, while helping to develop, solidify and strenthen relationships. Training is provided. I want to help >>
OFFICE HELP
Administrative volunteers maintain OCCDA in the day-to-day business operations of the non-profit. Reception skills, computer and database input, publicity and general office help support all the arms, programs and events. I want to help >>
MAINTENANCE
God provided the Overflow Center and former Sears building adjacent to the Orchards Mall as a donation from a very generous donor. It is our responsibility and honor to maintain it to glorify the Hand who provided it to us and we rely on a dedicated volunteer staff to serve in helping us do that. I want to help >>
PRAYER TEAM
OCCDA exists to glorify God through the hope found in Jesus Christ. Our connection to God through prayer is essential to the success of OCCDA. Please join us in prayer for the board, staff, leaders, volunteers, mission, vision, relationships, daily conversations and decisions. MISSION TEAMS
OCCDA, through Overflow hosts mission experiences for youth groups, mission organizations and adult groups which are designed to fit the groups' schedules, passions, talents and needs in the local community.
